Blackpool Show is always a nice show - when the weather is good! We were blessed with fine sunshine and a slight breeze. It made the 1am wake up call worth while! We set the gazebo up so the dogs could have some shade and we were set for the day. Armed with suntan lotion and strawberries and clotted cream - life's essentials - we were ready to chill out and enjoy the day.

It was Louie's - Woodbriar Luciano JW ShCM turn first. Firstly he won Limit Dog and then went on to challenge for the Dog Challenge Certificate. Today he won his second CC!!! He now has 2 CC's and 4 RCC's.

It was then the girls turn. Both Lola - Woodbriar Wild as the Wind Je ShCM and Fiji - Woodbriar Fire Fly ShCM where entered in Limit Bitch. It was a strong class and they were placed Reserve and VHC respectively.

Louie was back up again to challenge for Best of Breed. He pulled out all the stops and won! That was Louie's first Best of Breed at a Championship Show! To say we were over the moon was an understatement! It was then first turn to strut his stuff in the big ring. Still buzzing from winning BOB we headed over to the Group ring.

There was approximately 935 dogs entered in the Working Group that day and only those chosen as best in their breed are able to compete in the Group. It was a quality group, boasting many Champions.

Louie held his own and went on to win RESERVE BEST IN GROUP!!! We were all so proud! The fact he is our own breeding, handled by us making it even more special.

Interclub Match

Tonight Tanya, Mike and Fiji attended an Interclub Match, kindly organised by Plymouth and District Kennel Association. It was held at the Leigham Community Hall which is used by both Plymouth Clubs fro their Ringcraft lessons. There were four clubs in attendance: Plymouth and District Kennel Association, Plymouth and District Canine Society, Liskeard and District Canine Society and Okehampton and District Canine Society.

The event was a great success and well supported. There was approximately 34 dogs there - and lots of owners! On offer was warm pasties, tea and coffee to have with their homemade cake! We had a good haul on the raffle as well, going home with an armful of goodies.

The judge was announced on the night, Mrs Y Angear. Tanya took Fiji for an evening out and won the Open class. She then went on to win Reserve Best in Match behind the gorgeous Whippet, Jenson, belonging to Louise Tope. We had a cracking night and are looking forward tot he next one!

We, as a family, are very proud to be Cornish so naturally this is the ultimate show for us. We always go, rain or shine. When looking at the weather forecast, they said we would have hailstones the size of cricket balls... they lied! We didn't even have a spit of rain! Granted it was overcast but yes, we still managed to get sunburnt!

Great day for the Woodbriar family. Fiji - Woodbriar Fire Fly ShCM won Graduate, Lola - Woodbriar Wild as the Wind JW ShCM won Open Bitch and Louie - Woodbriar Luciano JW ShCM won Open Dog. Bambino - Woodbriar Angel Eyes was unable to attend as she was recovering from an operation a week before. Louie then went on to win Best of Breed and Group 1 under judge Mr Tim Hutchings, qualifying for Top Dog of Cornwall YET AGAIN!
Fiji also won the Open Stakes thanks to Mr Tim Hutchings.

As usual we took a picnic and spent some quality time with friends whilst waiting for Best in Show. Many members of public came to see the dogs and they saw the true character of the Dobermann. The dogs loved all the extra fuss and treats. Who said dog showing was cruel?!

The time came for Best in Show and what a quality line up it was. Many of our good friends made it to the final 7 so we were extremely happy for everyone. The Best in Show judge was Mr Keith Starkey who awarded Louie BEST IN SHOW!!! Yet again our boy did us proud! Louie has only attended two Cornish Shows this year, winning Reserve Best in Show and Best in Show respectively.

We are extremely proud of Louie's success and to win Best in Show at the most prestige show in Cornwall was just the cherry on the cake!
